Sighing

I’ve had a few messages recently asking if I have any app recommendations for anxiety. I’ve explored several over time and some have been useful, but the thing I have found most helpful is meditation. Focusing on breathing and my breath in that moment. A ten minute holiday for my mind gives me instant peace and clarity. I’m still quite new to it and breathing techniques are something I still very much need to practice in order to make it an automatic response in crisis. It’s not an overnight thing.

When I’m not in a good place, fighting a panic attack/recovering from one, I’m terrible for holding my breath! I’m a work in progress and that’s ok:) another helpful trick I have been encouraged to do is to sigh! Sigh & let it ALL out! Research suggests that sighing can help return breathing to normal patterns after experiencing anxiety & I’ve found this to be true. The best way I can describe it is like a way of resetting yourself. It helps bring balance.

Hope this helps 🙂
