I hate this idea that you need to ‘beat’ mental illness to get on with your life. For many people, including me, that’s not always a possibility. You definitely can develop a different relationship with it though, for example, anxiety. It will always be there for many of us but through managing it, I can now do some things I once couldn’t…. Not because the anxiety has gone but because I have worked hard to manage my response to it.
Acceptance is key. Own it.
